Smith & Nephew Durafiber Ag PRO Alginate Dressing, 3/4" x 17-3/4", Silver Gelling Fiber Ribbon, Sterile

3/4" x 17-3/4" Silver Gelling Fiber Ribbon for Deep, Exuding Wounds

Product Description

Managing deep, cavity, or tunneling wounds with moderate to heavy exudate presents a significant challenge for patients and caregivers. Standard dressings may fail to conform to irregular wound shapes, can allow exudate to pool and macerate surrounding skin, and may be difficult to remove in one piece. For wounds at risk of infection, the need for a dressing that combines effective fluid management with antimicrobial protection is critical

The Smith & Nephew Durafiber Ag PRO Alginate Dressing is designed to address these needs. This 3/4" x 17-3/4" sterile ribbon is composed of cellulose ethyl sulphonate fibers that rapidly form a soft, cohesive gel upon contact with wound fluid . The gel absorbs and locks exudate away from the wound, helping to prevent peri-wound maceration, while the high integral wet strength allows for easy, one-piece removal that minimizes trauma and pain . The dressing contains ionic silver, which provides sustained antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of pathogens, including MRSA, starting within 4 hours

This Smith & Nephew dressing is designed for versatility and clinical reliability. The ribbon format is specifically suited for packing deep, cavity, or tunneling wounds, conforming intimately to the wound bed . It is indicated for a broad range of wounds including leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds with moderate to heavy exudate . The dressing is sterile and latex-free. Each box contains 5 dressings

Features

  • Silver Antimicrobial Protection: Contains ionic silver for sustained antimicrobial activity against a broad spectrum of pathogens, including MRSA, with action starting within 4 hours .
  • Highly Absorbent Gelling Fiber: Absorbs up to 12 times its own weight in exudate, forming a cohesive gel that locks fluid away from the wound and surrounding skin .
  • Ribbon Format for Cavity Wounds: The 3/4" x 17-3/4" ribbon is designed to fill dead space and conform to deep, tunneling, or irregular wound beds .
  • One-Piece Removal: High wet strength allows the gelled dressing to be removed intact, minimizing the risk of fiber shed and reducing trauma during changes .
  • Vertical Absorption: Helps prevent the spread of fluid to surrounding skin, reducing the risk of peri-wound maceration .
  • Versatile Application: Indicated for leg ulcers, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds with moderate to heavy exudate .
  • Sterile and Latex-Free: Suitable for use in clinical and home care settings
Why Choose Smith & Nephew
  1. Better than basic alginates:
Unlike standard alginates that may break apart or shed fibers upon removal, the Durafiber Ag PRO features a high-integral wet strength that allows for easy, one-piece removal . The cellulose ethyl sulphonate fiber matrix provides superior structural integrity when wet, helping to ensure a clean wound bed with minimal residue.
  2. Designed for infection risk and fluid management:
The combination of a highly conformable gelling fiber and sustained silver release addresses both exudate management and bacterial burden in a single product . The vertical absorption technology helps keep exudate away from the peri-wound skin, reducing the risk of maceration that can delay healing .
  3. Reliable clinical choice:
As part of the trusted Durafiber family, the Ag PRO variant is specifically optimized for infected or infection-prone wounds, offering a proven solution for challenging clinical scenarios
